Klassenbeschrieb // class description

This class is designed to give students tools to better approach their artistic goals. We start with a thorough warm up for both the mind and body, making space to absorb the information. There will be improv and exploration of movement. Choreography is taught with the intention to use the tools we are working on the entire class. My hope is for each student to leave class having a new perspective on their approach to dance, art and perhaps life.

WIP Description
In this process we will work together to create a new piece of dance art. We will collaborate with a live musician “Jelila”. You will be contributing to the artistic process of building the choreography. We will use elements of improv and tasks to build a work in progress piece of live dance and music collaboration! The intention will be for students to experience different ways of creating and putting together choreography and dance.

Jélila // Live Music // WIP
Music Genre: a multi-coloured music inspired by her original mixture ( tunisian and swiss) and also by her years of traveling as a troubadour.
Her mouth as a principal instrument ( BeatBox and singing ), small and large instruments as her companions and the looper enables her to carry us on a trip between tribal and world music, contemporary and conscient music. In her astonishing solo performance Jelila spreads words to record us about our beauty and encourage us to reveal it from within.
