Mark Evans
Standard/Latein
I started dancing at the age of 12 and from there things grew, seemingly I had a a talent for dancing in the Ballroom style known as standard dance here in Switzerland. In a short time from 12 to 15 I managed to reach a high level of dancing with my partner, reaching most major finals competitively, including the open British ballroom dancing finals in both ballroom and Latin dance styles, becoming a member of the British team for international competition. Later I was also a British youth representative and later in the British open to the world Amateur championship from 600 couples with my partner reached a position in the last 24 couples selected.
To move a long way forwards a move to London was inevitable, whereby after studying the IDTA syllabus and intensive competitive training a decision was made to move to Switzerland with my then Swiss dance partner and later my wife. We became 2 times swiss dance champions in Standard dance….and swiss representatives for world and European competition. Having later decided to withdraw myself from the Swiss competitive dance scene I focused on teaching those who walk into our school for the first time as well as to those who have been with me now in courses for over 15 years.
To be a part of Tanzwerk101 in all its aspects is a privilege. It keeps me motivated to see all those who come here with a goal to learn, to be inspired or even just to have fun with dance in all its styles. Where there is music there is dance. My original saying was "Tanzwerk101, it`s the place to be.". The place to be yourself in what ever dance style you choose as yours. Dancing has been my life and my motivation for pretty much all I do.
